Costanoa Weekend Re-Cap!! + Photo's!!
Hey KP Team,
Great weekend of training on the coast everyone! We lucked out with a break in the weather and had some great workouts! The Costanoa Training Weekend has become a favorite of many and is always a good test early in the season.
We started the weekend
with a great swim workout in Los Gatos, then loaded the SAG wagons and were
off to Costanoa. Many THANKS to our SAG wagon volunteers, The Steve "Murphy
Team", Virginia Magee, Laurie and Jenny Kehl, Donna Schooley and Jody
Gold! We couldn't do it without all the great support! Thank you all!!!
The ride to Costanoa is about 65 miles with a good climb up Old La Honda and down to the coast. The hills start to take there toll by the time you reach Pescadero, via Stage Road, then its a pretty flat and fast route down to the Costanoa Resort. The weather on the coast was great, with light winds and sunshine! The KP group all made it over to Costanoa safe and sound, then many headed out for a nice run down to the beach and along the bluffs. The Elephant seals were out and are always fun to check out. After a nice hot tub and shower it was time to eat! We then had a nice dinner with everyone at the resort.
On Sunday morning most of the KP group headed out on a nice run down to
the bluffs and beach. Check the photo's of the great run we had down on
the beach! The Elephant seals didn't appreciate us, as much as we did seeing
them! The weather had changed a bit, with some clouds rolling in and rain
threatening. We got back to the resort, had a quick shower and changed for
the ride home. After a somewhat delayed breakfast, we were ready to ride
back home. The ride back is a bit shorter, only 52 miles, but very hilly!
We go back over Pescadero Road, through Sam McDonald Park, then up West
Alpine to Skyline. The weather was damp, but no rain. It got pretty cold
at the top of Alpine and Skyline, but the SAG wagons were there with some
warm clothes to put on! It made the ride across Skyline bearable, even in
the fog and cold! By the time we rolled back into LG, the sun was out and
all was good! Many tired legs on Monday morning, but a great weekend of
some good base building was had by all! We're looking forward to our next
KP Weekend Adventure down in Santa Barbara in March!
